This week our AI venture capital activity accelerated again from prior weeks, even as overall venture activity and volume seemed to decline.
The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from UK-based Ineffable Intelligence, which is attempting to develop artificial superintelligence via reinforcement learning. The company raised a $1.1 billion round which it will use to "expand operations and advance its development efforts," according to its announcement. Our second-place announcement was from New York-based VAST Data, raising approximately $1 billion, which it will use to "consolidate its position and accelerate global growth, including strategic transactions that expand its technology footprint and partnerships," according to its announcement. VAST offers key data storage and management, computation services and general software infrastructure for organizations using AI. The top five also included companies in the defense, analytics and AI infrastructure spaces.
Smaller funding raises that did not quite make our top 5 this week included announcements from the robotics, defense and supply chain physical AI sectors.
